About The University of Nottingham

With award-winning campuses in the UK, China and Malaysia, the University of Nottingham offers an environment that encourages academic excellence and sustainable living both at University Park and Jubilee Campus.

Background and History

Nottingham's first civic college was opened in the city centre in 1881. Since then, the college has gone through many transformations, from moving to University Park in 1928 to gaining university status in 1948 and joining the Russell Group of International Excellence. In 1999, the university opened its first campus overseas in Malaysia and then another in China, in 2005. Considered a world-class institute, Nottingham is consistently ranked among the top one per cent of universities worldwide.

Location and Accessibility

Road: Located near Derby and Loughborough and south east of the Peak District, Nottingham is reasonably central. To get to University Park Campus, exit the M1 at Junction 25 and join the A52 to Nottingham. Follow for about four miles and then turn right at the roundabout onto the A6464. Take a left at the next roundabout for the university's west entrance.

The university provides a free Hopper Bus, which regularly runs from campus to campus.

Rail: On arrival at Nottingham railway station, you will need to take a short walk to either Canal Street bus stop or Broadmarsh bus station. There, it is possible to catch transport to University Park Campus.

Students with specific needs are advised to contact Nottingham's Disability Support before beginning their studies. Any requirements can be noted on the UCAS application form, which the support team will then use for assessment purposes and to prepare any relevant support services.
